Juice Franchise Companies

Juice Franchise - The industrialized world has become increasingly health-conscious. After several decades of existing on fast food, we’ve at last started to wake up to the idea that our bodies actually care what we put in them. And that was the set of circumstances which had to arise before we saw the dawn of the juice bar fad.

Juice bars have been creeping into the commercial sphere little by little. You probably don’t notice until you read names like Booster Juice, Indigos Fruit Smoothies, Jamba Juice, and Jugo Juice, and then you think, “Oh, yeah, I’ve seen a few of those places!” Well, between the health-food oriented set and the people who don’t drink alcohol or coffee for religious or philosophical reasons and so need a place of refreshment to call their own, juice bars are a growing niche that just might produce the next Starbucks or Subway. As it is, juice bars aren’t a new concept - how long has the Orange Julius franchise been around?

But really, don’t think of just diet food. That’s just asking to be associated with celery-and-carrot juice concoctions. Think of expanding on the category of juice drinks, and you’ll see the popularity a little more clearly. There’s smoothies, shakes, frozen yogurt, sherbets, “slushies”, and even plain old lemonade. Some juice bars have inevitably expanded into salads and snacks as well, of course. You want to hear about a niche trend? Pomegranate juice! It’s expensive, because it’s difficult to extract, but very tasty and healthy. I’ve known several professional models who practically live on the stuff.

Juice franchises start-up costs range here and there. Most of them are in the mid-five-figures, but the more sophisticated operations run to the mid-six-figures as well. Some juice bars promote a very trendy image and target the more upscale market - your average Beverly Hills hipster is likely to be driving their Corvette around with a papaya smoothie in the cup-holder. And of course, no fashion square mall is complete without a juice bar and patio furniture on a sunny plaza.

Juice bars are relatively low-maintenance, but not nearly as much so as people seem to think. The health department will want to inspect your facilities and operation, as bringing many imported fresh fruits together in one kitchen tends to cause concern - remember, “Any fresh fruits or vegetables?” is the first thing the border patrol always asks! In any case, juice bars don’t need much equipment by themselves, but when you expand into iced and frozen drinks, you need more space to keep and process all the ingredients.

The other high cost of overhead results from the nature of produce. You know how you’re lucky to get through the bag of oranges you have at home without at least one of them spoiling? Now multiply that times 40 varieties of fresh fruit, only you have to keep enough on hand so you don’t run out. That’s what stocking your business will be like. Make it a routine to inspect your inventory every morning.

All in all, a juice franchise is one of the nicest little businesses you could run. Your best location is in an upscale area in a warmer climate - perhaps the beach? Juice franchises are typically located in higher-class malls, or attached to a health and nutrition center, or even partnered with a gym or spa.
